As you travel around the battlefield you will notice that in addition to the metal historical plaques and large elaborate monuments, there are numerous smaller state "markers" representing individual regiments.  The state regimental markers are done in a unique style for each state, which makes locating various units on the battlefield a bit easier if you know the styles look for.  Some states such as Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia erected numerous of these regimental-specific markers since they had a large percentage of troops present, while others such as Alabama, Florida and Texas seem to have opted for a single large monument to all of its units. Pennsylvania seemed to have been fairly elaborate and unique with each of its regimental monuments.

The locations of the large monuments for Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Georgia, Texas, and South Carolina are marked on the Chickamauga and Chattanooga official park map.
