| Sam Watkins is the author of Company Aytch, or, A Side Show of the Big Show, which is recognized as being one of the finest first person accounts of an ordinary Confederate foot soldier. This is not an officially sponsored trail but one that I put together. I think that it is a fun 5 mile hike which covers scenes of heavy fighting on both days, and you can follow along with Sam's narrative as you go (the chapters "Presentiment, or the Wing of the Angel of Death" through "A Night Among the Dead"). The long hike adds in the initial movements of Company "H" onto the battlefield. Download the map and directions below. | ||
